Usually they are hidden by the washer. I recommend building a box to cover them and you can leave the bottom open for the hoses.
If you have a shelf or cabinet above them you can add a piece of artwork, picture or plaque with eye hooks that hang down in front of them and are easily removed if you use tiny "S" hooks to hang them with.
You can attach a short curtain all the way across. Gathered or pleated. I did that to a table in my sewing room so I could hide things underneath.
MaggieMie, the more I look at the photo the more ideas I get. My most useful would be to cover with a dollar store basket suspended from the shelf above that could be used for dryer lint or other type uses.
