If you have a range with and exhaust hood, you can get a microwave that fits in the area of the exhaust hood. Take that out and put in the microwave. Hopefully the exhaust hood vents outside and doesn't just recirculate back into kitchen. Exhausts can be directed through the outside wall if possible, but exhausting to the roof is best.
In this post I wrote on my son and daughter-in-law's kitchen, you can see the microwave shelf they built and installed so they didn't sacrifice counter space too!
