I boxed in a pipe using copper tiles ( ordered cut to fit sheet ) I found source in back of a Southern Living magazine but am sure you could google Copper tiles/sheets. There were several very $$$ ones and others budget friendly--look around---also some are of a material that can be painted.
Possibly incorporate into a towel rack?
I would build a shelf unit at least 30" high with several shelves for holding odds and ends. The legs can straddle the pipe and a piece of wood across the bottom of the front would cover the pipe. You could even add doors if you want to conceal things inside. Or you could build a bench over it.
Hide it with a closed bench that you can remove for access.
