what is this plant?

I have no idea what it is, it keeps getting taller, it sort of looks like asparagus, i can take another picture, but it is in front of the little tree, tall stalk, fine feathery leaves.

Here's another picture, it almost looks like parsley..but it is about 3-4 ft tall now.And more Houtty, and my FEET! (a treat for you all!)

hmmm So if it is, what does this mean? Am I growing a tree under a tree? what should I do about it?

If it is an aralia that somehow seeded itself there, you'll want to transplant it somewhere else.

I cannot identify the plant, but I can tell you that you have poison ivy growing near that hosta! Put on gloves to get it out!

Hey Jeannette..thanks..actually it is Houttuynia...and almost just as bad. I posted another thread about it, but you can go to Davesgarden.com and read all about it. Shows one really needs to look up stuff before putting it in your garden. Yes, I am gloving and starting to try to control it today! very very invasive. I read many of the comments from people trying to fight it.A lot of work. I still dont know if it will kill my plants thru choking them?

Ok, everyone, we dug and dug today..Houttuynia roots everywhere...we will have to keep on top of it. As for the Aralia, we dug it out also. And another little tree starting. I moved a hosta away just in case.

I'm sorry but I don't know what the plant is but I do have a suggestion on getting rid of the poison ivy wanna be. You can use a Systemic weed killer. Just spray it on all of the bad plants you see above ground. The spray will go down the plant to the roots and kill the plant. Be sure you don't spray it on neighboring plants as it will kill those also. You will have to keep on top of any new growth. If you're not comfortable using this product you can use bleach and water (1 to 1 ratio) and spray it on the bad plants. It will take awhile using either method. Digging everything else out does not guarantee that you won't take some of the roots of the bad plant with the good plant. I learned this by transplanting some hosta that had morning glory roots in it. Another invasive but not dangerous plant . I wish you good luck in your endeavors.

Did any of you Google this? Houttuynia is nothing like the plant above, if it's the tall pale green stalk with the "Y" split and fern-like leaves? Houttuynia has flat leaves, sometimes varicoloured too, also on the 'davesgarden site too.. I looked up Trumpet vine and pink mimosa, both of which spread like wildfire, but their leaves, though 'feathery' are not similar. Since you dug it up, too late for a good photo, but please in future, hold a large piece of white paper behind a clump of leaves and photograph it close, like you see when Googling a plant. And Papoose03. Please don't suggest systemic weed killers, they are the ones which are killing the bees and butterflies! Many of us are trying to get them banned, as they are in many other countries of the world!
