if your looking for a tree a weeping willow will do well.
I would say a willow of Any sort is your best bet. A weeping willow will get quite large and harder to keep under control; however a pussywillow or variegated (dapple willow?) can be trimmed quite easily if you are looking to keep something on the smaller side

Cannas are great for wet areas. They grow pretty tall and since they are a bulbs, they will quickly multiply. When we wer growing up, because of the many houses with septic systems, they were known as 'sewer lillies'.
