How can I get my nickel shower rod to look good again?
There was rust on the end caps so I tried rust remover. Then metal looked dark gray. The surface is not smooth, it has pitted areas. I really don't want to buy a new one unless I have no other choice.

That's easy! Buy a curtain rod cover...so inexpensive...lots of colors
Hi Jean. I'm Cindy. I would sand it just a bit and then paint it. Rustoleum makes a lot of colors and finishes. I think with paint, it could look new again.
Spray paint it ,cover it with contact paper, buy plastic curtain rod cover(amazon)new rod same price spray paint is cheapest option get any color you want that way even metallic
Hi Jean! There’s a trick I learned from grandfather about removing rust from metal and keeping the rust from coming back. He used Bar Keepers Friend to clean it off then polish it with wax to protect it. I use it for my shower rods and chrome light fixtures.
