We had a mobile home with outside air intake. It worked fine. Our gas bills were a little high but it was a mobile home so wasn't surprised. . Actually our furnace man told us that the outside air intake saved our lives. There was a crack in something in the furnace and had it been an inside air intake we would have had carbon monoxide gassed.
