Buy laminate primer & laminate paint, follow the directions to a T, and clean the heck out of it first with alcohol.
You’ll need to read about adequate ventilation, as this product may need open windows.
I would roll it on, using a high quality roller, after cutting in corners. Off course you’ll need to mask, using painters’ tape.

It is super easy to paint with Dixie Belle.
Step one: Clean with White Lightning
Step two: Apply two coats of Slick Stick
Step three: Paint one to two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint
Step four: Use Gator Hide for a water-repellent finish
No sanding required!
