Pumice rock does the job good .
You can find them in the nails and feet department in most stores like Wal Mart etc .
Get a pumice stick and a pair of rubber gloves from Walmart. They are located near the other toilet bowl cleaners but they are easy to overlook. If you don't find them ask a sales person to help you. They come in a small blue and white square box. When you open the box the stick will look very hard and harsh but it softens up when it hits the water. It sort of looks like lava soap. I have used a pumice stick on my toilets for a long time. Nothing else seems to work on my hard water and rust stains.
