1) You will need to take the door off and put it on saw horses, removing all hardware from the door. 2) It costs a lot more to use the spray cans, count on 4 cans, plus primer if you need it. 3) Because you will be resting the door on one of its sides, a couple of days' dry-time is necessary before flipping it over. 4) Overspray travels so you need to paint in an area where paint spray won't settle on finished surfaces.
I'm painting a wooden door right now using spray paint. Bought it as architectural salvage and I chose spray because I didn't want brush marks or runs and do not need to install the door the same day. Along with removing old paint I will have more than two weeks invested in the door.
Hello Lorrie! Is your door an exterior or an interior door?
It is an interior door.
Depends on what’s on the door now?
Latex enamel paints are usually what’s used on doors, unless they are steel exterior doors, residentially.
it's an interior door
It's a real old homemade door that was probably painted (an ugly brown) about 50 years ago.
