Cats spray to mark their territory. The only way to keep your cats from spraying is to have them spayed or neutered.
Janice is correct. The spaying or neutering must be done while the cat is young. Once they start spraying, it’s too late. We did ours at about 4-5 months, most recommend by 6 months, I believe.
As a caregiver and cat person, I have found when their cat box is also dirty they also spray. Its imperative you find all the spots using a black light flashlight to find the areas which will floresce, then clean with a pet enzyme cleaner. I prefer the tablets you mix fresh, in a spray bottle and a roll of paper towels, I buy the Jackson Galaxy Pet Enzyme
cleaner on Ebay and the . I have cleaned apartments that reaked with this method successfully. https://www.amazon.com/Escolite-Flashlight-Ultraviolet-Blacklight-Detector/dp/B008133KB4/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3QFUII8KN02ZF&keywords=uv+flashlight+bed+bugs&qid=1553793986&s=gateway&sprefix=UV+flashlight+and+bed%2Caps%2C213&sr=8-4 if they've soiled the carpets, or drapes, I buy the big bag and put it in the carpet cleaner and wash to soak its and remove the odor.

One thing that will get some cats spraying is if there is a window where the cat can see outside feral cats in their territory. You might have to get one of those motion detector hose attachments for outside to move them away from your house. They also make little motion detector air spray cans that will shock them away. You can buy these on Amazon.
You might also buy a Felaway Pheramone plug-in for kitty that makes them feel real good and calm which might reduce his anxiety thats causing him to spray. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=felaway+for+cats+spray&crid=3JMD4PUHIMCOD&sprefix=felaway%2Caps%2C210&ref=nb_sb_ss_i_4_7 you can also buy the spray to put some on their napping spot to calm them. I recently did a rescue cat who likes to bite, and he's now a mellow boy.
