What do I fill the gap with between the side of house & walkway?
We had a walkway built around the house last summer. Now after the snow is cleared there is a gap left between 1/2 - 1 inch in certain sections. Somehow the paving stones have pulled away from the house. Could be the expansion from ice and snow. We had put the special flexi sand around the stones when laying the stones. The sand has sunk .What should the gap be filled with ?Much appreciated.

Hello Jenny! Is the ground still frozen in your area? If so I would wait until the ground thaws to see what happens. The gaps may close up. The expansion could be from the ice, snow and frozen ground.
May be fill gap with stone
If the gaps remain after the thaw, you might consider using moss between the stones if it's in a shady place, or creeping thyme if it's in the sun
It doesn't sound like it was done correctly. You shouldn't have the sand sinking after just one winter. I would call the installers back and have them fix it. If you're looking to fill the gap, there are plants that can be walked on without hurting them. They're call stepables. I plan on putting some in around stepping stones in an area that doesn't get sun or much water.

If your area receives winter freeze and thaw, your pavers should have had a sand and gravel underlay, tamped with a vibrating tamper, before pavers were laid and sand brushed and vibrated between pavers.
Hopefully your contractor knows how to correct the situation... it will require removal of all pavers, with necessary digging below your frost line.
