Baking soda, dish soap, a good sponge and elbow grease. If you want to avoid any and all toxic cleaners this is the best way and my housekeeping employees uses it regularly.
Second option and only if you do NOT have a gas stove and are willing to use something only slightly toxic and have the time.
Step one: warm oven to 150-200 degree
step two: place an oven safe glass bowl with two cups of boiling water on the bottom rack of the oven
step three: Place an oven safe glass bowl with 1-2 cups of ammonia on the top rack of the oven.
Step four: Close the door Leave sit overnight.
Step five: Be sure to have plenty of ventilation when you open the door. Remove the bowls of ammonia and water.
Step six: Wipe oven out using a hot wet sponge
Step seven: Use the damp sponge sprinkled with baking soda to scrub any really stubborn spots.
Step eight: Buff dry and enjoy the sparkle and shine.
Just few safety notes. If you have a gas oven be sure the pilot light is out and the gas is TURNED OFF!
Do NOT use any other cleaners (especially those containing chlorine bleach) when using ammonia.
These are the best sponges for any kitchen job and they’re earth friendly.
