What is the best way to clean sliding window tracks?
I don't think the previous owners ever cleaned them. We live with snowy cold winters and the grime has hardened and impossible to clean.

try putting strips of paper towels in the tracks then saturating the paper w white vinegar - wait a while then use a Que-tip and/ or old toothbrush to scrub out the grime
WD401 and a toothbrush. Will also lubricate the tracks
Yes soak the track for awhile, then use a butter knife wrapped in an old rag. Run this along the track to get the crud out,
Soak paper towels or old rags in cleaning vinegar and let sit on the area. Once that has set for a while, remove and test wipe an area. Once you have an area that comes clean, start on the entire area.
