The best way to dry out your carpet is to pull up the wet area and place fans under it after you've extracted all you can from the surface. You can rent large floor fans from any tool rental for this.
Good advice from Laura Cooper. I would add to suck up as much water as you can with a wet/dry shop vac.
Hello, Wet - shop vacuuming or renting a Rug Doctor carpet cleaner at the supermarket can extract the water. Fans can help the drying process too. Once we had a water line sever with house settlement- while our house was for sale and these measures worked for us.
must dry out carpeting asap so mold doesn't form. Must pick up rug and make sure the padding/insulation is also dry. Mold forms within 24 hrs from water intrusion. I removed all carpeting in my house due to allergeries/dust/mold in carpeting. My dog even got sick with sinuses because he lays on carpeting. Suck as much water out with dry vac and then use the fans non stop 24 hrs to dry/air out wet rug.
