I would suggest you use the same size pots as you’re new to this. You will need an electric saw with an attachment to cut circles out of the wood. First! Make a sample hole on a scrap piece of wood. Once you are the expert on sawing wood circle holes THEN you can make your openings on the desired project surface. Test the fitting in the hole with your first cut with your pot. If you need to adjust it for some reason, now is the time. Your other holes will be easier. Take your time and deep breaths and soon your project will just need stain or paint. Good luck!!
