Pools: Pool guy says don't worry about water getting too high or draining any water out.

KMS Woodworks on Jul 01, 2012I think it would depend on how the top of the liner is configured? Is it even possible for water to go higher than the liner some of the pools I've seen the liner went up and over the rim.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jul 01, 2012Liner pools should be prevented from over filling. How close to the top would depend upon the type of liner and how its attached. But you must understand once water gets between the liner and the pool wall it will run down and erode the sand along the bottom that is pitched at an angle. As this washes away the liner will become lumpy and can rip at those points. If this is just a once and a while thing, the water will evaporate out fairly fast, so no big deal, but do not fill high all the time or you will experience issues later down the road.Helpful Reply

Best Hot Tubs "Hot Tub and Pool Experts" on Feb 11, 2013Your pool builder may have said this because he installed and overflow line in the pool or in the skimmer. I would ask him if this is what did. Otherwise the comments about describe the problems that can occur.Helpful Reply

Jim Ginas on Feb 11, 2013LI Hot Tub: The Pool guy we use is unrelated to the pool builder. The pool builder told us do NOT let the water get too high, and although we told our pool guy, he insists that the water would run out before getting behind the liner. Pool builder said put a pump into the skimmer and the water won't get lower then the skimmer. (I'm from LI till I moved when I was 24. my younger son is a Suffolk County cop up there now) ..... thanksHelpful Reply
