How do I clean dull vinyl siding?

I've had my vinyl siding power washed, but it is still dull, like oxidized or something. Is there a cleaner I can use?

Thanks for the website, but it seems to be for aluminum and metals. Since my siding is vinyl I'm going to continue my search.

Hi Becky, vinyl siding does get sun faded over time, can you tell if that's what's going on or is it actual grime that needs to come off? They make specific sprays just for materials like vinyl to help get it clean. If it is sun faded you could paint it.

I'm pretty sure the vinyl is faded because I've had it power washed. But I think painting will be a last resort. Since the vinyl is evenly faded, I would just like a shiny protective finish.

Armor all or simular auto vinyl protectant. Also pledge or furniture polish. Have used it on my shutters, works Great.

    Good luck!

Thank you so much for this you tube site. It was very informative. It's nice to see that some companies will come and clean/restore your vinyl siding. Since I have a large house, I just have to find someone local. Thanks again.

Borax is a natural mineral compound that won't damage nearby landscaping plants. Apply the solution as instructed above. Treat stains with oxygen bleach paste. To treat a stubborn stain, mix just enough warm water with a small amount of powdered oxygen bleach to make a paste.

Hi Becky, hope this helps you. Water & vinegar solution, a scrub brush and some elbow grease. Mix 30% vinegar and 70% water in a spray jug, spray on let sit a minute scrub if needed and rinse.

This may help you if you opt to use a pressure sprayer:

Use low pressure to clean siding. The trick to power washing on vinyl siding is to use it on the lowest pressure setting necessary to clean the siding. The spray angle is also important: Spray at a downward angle on the siding panels to keep from forcing water up and under the strips, which can encourage moisture and mold growth beneath the siding.

  • To clean vinyl siding, make a moderate bleach and water solution. This may be accomplished with only a few quick swipes with an old, soft cloth dampened with bleach water! I rapidly rinse after that by giving the water hose a brief spritz.
