Do my primer and my paint have to be the same sheen?
painting cabinet doors, sanded down really well and want to know if my primer and my paint have the be the same SHEEN? My primer is FLAT and would like to use an egg-shell or semi gloss paint. Any advice?

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong please but to my knowledge most primers are flat. I've been using chalk paint as a primer. I know that there are specially made primers labeled as such but I think they are all flat. It will adhere to the paint and hold it better.
Yes you should be fine using a primer and then a sheen paint - the key is to thoroughly clean your cabinet doors and apply a good coat of primer.
Primer is flat. It is not the same as flat paint. It doesn't matter what sheen you use over the primer.
