How to fix hydraulic height mechanism on an office chair?
Everything about the rolling office chair is perfect except that it immediately sinks to the lowest level whenever anyone sits in it. Can the hydraulic mechanism be repaired? If not, is there an alternative solution that would keep it stabilized at one higher position?

You can buy replacement cylinders. See link below.

Collect as much information about the chair manufacturer, and chair model, as you can find. Then search for Chair lift cylinders, or gas lift cylinders. Usually they are not too difficult to replace. If yours is welded in, not replaceable, you can try lifting it up, and locking the rod by putting a hose clamp or two around the rod where it meets the cylinder. It won't be quite as cushy locked in place.
No way to repair. You would need to replace the cylinder. Amazon has a lot of them.

You also need instruction how to replace. Some brands may be specific.

Try putting it at the position and wedge something in it to stay or try duct tape or a screw
