This is my back gate. Notice the nest on the top right with momma sitting on it.
This is Not a Project....Robin's Nest on My Back Gate.
Went out to my garage this morning and noticed something on my back gate in between the boards. Went to take a close look and it was a robin's nest with the mom sitting on it. The male was on some power lines, flew down on my neighbors garage roof and started cackling and jumping around. So I went and got my camera and took a few photos. There are two eggs in the nest so now it can't be disturbed. I know i can't move it. The gate leads to the alley. Gonna have to tell family not to use the gate and go through the garage. May need to put up a sign or warning tape to remind them.
Close up of the nest.

Very thoughtful. Do you still have activities by the cans? If convenient, it might be a good idea to temporarily relocate them. Enjoy.

That's very cool , maybe a little inconvenient , but cool !
You could wire some artificial foliage to the gate for now to give some shelter-gotta have someone stand guard! As soon as babies leave the nest remove it or they will be back year after year as long as nest is there. We had one over our grill on our deck-🙁 had to move grill and remove nest at end of the year.
Thank you Jeanette. I can't wait to see them when they hatch and grow. I consider myself their uncle.
