Here's an article from Hunker that recommends vinegar and water plus baking soda if needed. I know that I've used these ingredients to remove rust on other items, just not a brass lamp. I did work for me. Wishing you the best.

I think Bronze would be corrosion (green)
If it’s brown rust, it’s steel with some brass or bronze plating, probably.
I would try a mild rust remover with a q-tip and see what it does
I like to use a wire brush to remove rust. Try it out gently at first--it can scratch the metal underneath, but its the best solution I've found. I have not had a lot of luck with vinegar myself.
