How do I renovate or replace stairs?
Staircase to the basement, the steps need to be rebuilt and a handrail attached as I have mobility issues. Right now they are two pieces of wood screwed together on a wooden set of stringers, at least two feel like they move when you step on them. How should they be built? Or can they be remodeled?

If you are a veteran there are places you can get assistance for this. Check with your Veterans Affairs Officer in your county offices.
If they are in good condition just screw down the loose ones to the stringers. If you need to replace homecenters sell stair treads. Remove the old ones and screw down new ones. Home centers also sell handrails depending on how they need to be mounted. They can advise you.
Susan, stairs should be built with proper stringer with risers and treads to complete them. If something is flexing, they are not built properly or have started to deteriorate. Check out The Essential Craftsman on YouTube. He shows the right way to build stairs. Excellent tutorials!!
Hi Susan, you may have to replace them, but you could try this method to repair
