What can I do with a large satellite dish?
Id love to extend my deck out this upcoming summer. I'll have questions about that later I'm sure of it! Well there's a huge satellite dish in the ground about 2 feet from the current porch. How do I remove it & is there anything I can do to upcycle it into something cool? Its base is covered in cement and it's quite far down.

Jessi,
You can remove the dish from the post by removing the 2 or 3 bolts holding it on to the post. Cut the cable where it goes into the dish. The concrete surrounding the post is not that wide fortunately. You can loosen it in the hole by gently moving the post back and forth and around. If you get too aggressive with it, you can snap off the post. If you don't care about the concrete, then go wild on it. Snap it off and fill the hole. If you are intent on getting the concrete out, you can lift the whole post and concrete out together once you have loosened it up. You may need someone to help you with that part. Sorry, but I don't have any good ideas to upcycle the dish.
It sounds like you may need some equipment to get it up. But once you get that base broken, here's a cool project showing how a Hometalker repurposed one into a gazebo:
