How do we repair our sidewalk?

How do I solve this problem? We are seniors and cannot take a project that requires too much lifting; however, we have a walkway sidewalk leading from the driveway to the front door that is in sections and it lifts in places as the seasons change making the separations dangerous. Can anyone give me some ideas on how to deal with this?

    Hello Sharon,

The pavers need to be lifted and reset on a concrete base really, but if you could leaver up the slabs with a spade and throw in some sand that may help level them up. Otherwise Fork in between the slabs to help drainage. Best wishes.

Yes, if they were pavers it would be so much easier however; they are large sidewalk sized blocks of cement. I will try to lift them up and pour sand in but do not have much confidence in that since we tried that a few years back. May have to take it all out and put a different kind of walk in. I hope the Homeowners Assoc will agree to it. Thank you so much for your ideas I really appreciate it.

I would check with someone who does concrete driveway and sidewalks, they have ways of lifting them. Changing seasons will probably always cause some heading due to the freeze and thaw cycles for those of us that live towards the north.

Yes, I just never expected this to happen in Texas. I think a nearby tree could have played a part also. I thank you for your comments!
