Since cream goes with anything, I would pick an accent color that appeals to you and accessorize with it. Kim is right. You could also paint lower cabinets a darker color and leave uppers cream. If you have an island, you could paint that a different color and leave the other cabinets cream. If you have walls in your kitchen that aren't covered in cabinets or backsplash, paint them. Use colorful trays to contain small items on your counter top and canisters to add color.
If you don’t have a backsplash, you could install one with colorful tiles.
