How to remove oil stain on ceiling?
We have never painted our kitchen ceiling for more than 30 years. There is an oil stain on the ceiling above the stove. What should we do to remove the stain? What is the easiest way to paint the ceiling without straining our neck? (We are advanced in age)

Hi Chris, you can combine warm water and a degreaser or liquid dish soap in a spray bottle and spray it on the stain. Gently dab with a sponge or rag, and let dry. To paint the ceiling I'm hoping this video will make your life easier - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8mlAVizZbY Best of luck and have fun
You could repaint the ceiling with a Paintstick EZ Twist by HomeRight. The long stick holds enough paint to paint the ceiling in a small bathroom. It really helped me with painting my bathroom ceiling! You can see how it works here: http://momhomeguide.com/bathroom-makeover-orc-week-2/
You will most likely have to paint the whole ceiling but I would get kilz upshot and spray the spot first. If it is a good match then you are finished. If not you will need to paint the whole ceiling.
I'd recommend sealing the stain with a primer like this one. (click to go to primer) It is shellac based and will seal off the stain. Then paint the ceiling with 2 coats of good quality latex paint.
