How to preserve an old painting?
I am restoring some antique photographs which have been colorized at some point. How can I preserve the color to keep it from fading?

Store your original photos in the coolest, driest part of your home. Dampness and humidity will destroy them as well as too much heat. They also need to be kept in the dark away from sunlight and lights in your home. Originals should not be put on display. Make a copy if you want to frame them and display them. Old photographs should be handled carefully and as little as possible. You can have them digitized professionally so that you have/make a good copy in case something happens to the original.
If framed use UV PROTECTION glass. Quality framers use this.
I was hoping to find some sort of clear coat which I could apply to eliminate fading. Is that a possibility? Thanks for your replies.
Personally I would make a copy to display - and place the original in an album. The sunlight will cause it to fade. Even the special glass is not so great.
Thank you all for your great suggestions.
