Not that small, really big for an apt., congrats.
Choose multi purpose furnishings, like tables with leaves so you can keep it smaller for daily use and make it large when you have guests. Also, declutter items you don’t use or love.
I agree with Kelli that 1200 sq ft is roomy for an apt, however, I also know that size alone does not always mean adequate storage space and efficiency depends on the particular floor plan.
My suggestion is to switch from conventional furniture, to pieces that make use of vertical space, and that are multi-functional. Some examples are shown in pictures below:
