Why does my stove burner get real red?

I can turn my front burner on very low setting and it will turn really red hot so I turn off burner. Is that a sign of needing to buy a new burning because it's getting ready to burn out. Or maybe a power surge. All the other burners are fine.

All my burners turn red and get hot , then the red fades when the burner gets up to temperature , and as it needs to heat up to get back up to temperature again it will get red again. It might be best to look up the manufacturers toll free phone number

And ask them . Good luck !

Call the manufacturer, have the make and model nunbers in hand ready to talk to them about you stove. They have a customer service line for support.

If it is an electric stove you can take the eye to Home Depot or Lowes and they have replacement units that usually just plug in but here is another idea

My husband is an appliance repairman. He said it is the switch where you turn it on that is bad. There may have been a surge at one point, but it is the switch not the burner.

He said you may be able to get a switch from Amazon or Sears parts. He said a layman may be able to replace it herself. There are only 2 screws holding it in place, but you may want someone to help. (Sometimes what he thinks is easy for anyone is easy because he knows what he is doing). :-D There are likely videos on YouTube showing someone replacing a switch.
