Shoot...I am working on a post on how to build a floating frame but I don't have it out yet. Unfortunately framing is so expensive!! That is why I am writing the post. ha. One question......is the canvas a standard size? 11x16 or 16x20 etc. etc.? If it is a standard size, often times you can find frames at Walmart, or Micheals without getting it custom framed( which is 10x more). You would just need to take the glass out. You will have to see if that type of frame would work with your canvas because the canvas might be deeper than the frame that had glass in it.
-Another way is to check out other cheap paintings that have the same frame size but you could just disregard the painting. Sometimes you can find cheap paintings at discount stores like Ross, Marshalls, TJ MAXX.
-Another way is to go thrift shop and check out the frames on the canvases that can be disregarded.
-You could also make your own. You would need some woodworking tools like a mitre saw and a router. You would also need corner clamps to glue it all up.
-And finally you could get it custom framed (UGH!!!!!). It's so expensive. Personally I like the floating frames for canvas paintings.
If you want to know how to make your own, check out my blog within the next few weeks. I will have the new post up soon! https://karupp-did.net
