It is recommended that you only use soap and water on marble, but if this a bird bath for out of doors, I would use a solution of bleach and water.

Hi Sharon. I did a bit of reading in order to answer your question. This is what I learned: Begin by removing any large deposits of spilled seeds, feces, debris, or anything else. Use a solution of one part distilled white vinegar to nine parts of water. Scrub the birdbath thoroughly. Be sure to scrub the basin, lip, and any area of the birdbath where the birds can land.
