How to get rid of odor in beautiful area rug that my dog urinated on?

I have had it "professionally" cleaned and it did not remove the odor. Hate to get rid of it, but had to remove from my living room because of the odor. Any tip for getting ride of pet odor? I have tried vinegar & water with no luck.

Once that happens - it is not any good. We have 4 dogs and use K.O.E. - a special cleaner that is used in kennels, but even it won't get out the urine smell from a rug.

Try baking soda. Make a paste of baking soda with a little water, apply it to the stained area, leave it on the are for 10/15 mins then scrub with a hard bristled scrub brush using vinegar. That should help

Try a pet enzyme cleaner. Nature's Miracle is one brand. You can find it in the pet section of big box stores. Follow the directions-the urine area needs to stay wet for a while. Repeat several times if necessary. In my experience vinegar does not work--the odor comes back.

Since you had it cleaned, does that means you can turn it over?

If so, be sure to clean the under side also if the the order remains after cleaning top side.
