It’s usually dyed, and applied with a cloth, wear gloves.

I covered my leather chair with shoe polish made for leather shoes! It looks great! Another friend used wax polish to do the color on her leather. I used kiwi shoe polish with the applicator on the top. Hope this helps Laura
Best to look for leather dye.
There is a leather paint called Angelus. It is sold at Wal-Mart and Amazon. A 4 ounce bottle costs about 7.00. There are many colors and several different size bottles.
Lots of leather dye out there.
