First make sure that it's clean so dust and wipe it down. I'd use a coat of primer next to help the actual paint adhere. Then use any latex paint that you have. For extra protection, you can also use a couple of coats of sealer in whatever sheen you want. Wishing you the best.
For a laminate surface, you’ll need a bonding primer like Slick Stick by Dixie Belle Paint. I’d also recommend chalk paint, since latex isn’t really intended for furniture. Have fun!
I just primer and if you want something long wearing, I use Kitchen & Bath semi-gloss paint..... you can add 1/2c baking soda to make it look like chalk paint.
