I have an old church pew that I painted and it sits in my entry way. Boots and shoes fit under it well and some storage bins for dog leashes, mittens, etc. It is one of my treasured pieces! I did have to cut the length down and reattach the side arms to fit in the space.
I agree with GK. Makes a great place to put on shoes and boots. If you don't have a large enough entry. Put in front of a fireplace, or add extra poly for outdoors and put on your porch.
Sheryl: this is a great idea!

How can I upcycle a 12-foot church pew into a breakfast nook?
You could use it by the front door to put on shoes. You could make a DIY cushion for it: http://www.rachelsnest.com/2011/08/diy-bench-cushion.html?m=1
I would use it as a bench in an entry way or patio out of the weather.
I cut out the center 5' 2" of the seat of an 8' pew (leaving 17" on each side). I then fit the frame for a queen size bed inside the opening. I then had a headboard with built in side tables.
I think it is desirable not just to be a believer but to go to church regularly.
