How can I clean an aggregate pool deck without using a power washer?
I have an aggregate pool deck that is dirty and needs cleaning. However some of the small pebbles are starting to come loose so a pressure washer can not be used. I have tried to rent a steam machine and cannot find one in any stores or rental places. Can anyone suggest how I can clean the deck?thanx

Southern Traditions: Why Did My Grandmas Sweep Their Yards?
My question as I watched these grandparents was always, "Why are you sweeping your yards, and why is there no grass around your house?" We have grass around ours.
Denise,
I used to clean ours with a stiff bristled broom for sweeping pavement. I would do it early or late so the deck would not be too hot. I used water from the pool (vacuum hose placed over return outlet) to wet the deck (garden hose will do), scrub, and then rinse, one section at a time. Labor intensive, but it worked. Spray stubborn spots with an oxy-type cleaner to pre-soak. If the deck is really bad, you can use a diluted solution of muriatic acid, but the stuff is nasty and you need to follow safety precautions carefully.
