Distressing Technique Using Soap
Hi! Rub the bar of soap lightly on the wood. Then paint the wood. Let paint dry and then go over paint with grade steel wool. This will lightly remove the paint from where the soap bar was and it will leave a distressed finish.

Just put the soap on the areas you DON'T want the paint to stick to, not the whole thing.
