After removing old carpet and padding from the floor of a fixer upper house we bought, we want to remove stains without sanding right now if possible .
You would need to sand the floor down
Hi Sylvia. I'm Cindy. Make a paste of olive oil and salt. Apply it on the water stain and wait at least one hour. Then wipe it all up. Repeat if necessary. The salt will remove the moisture and the olive oil will help replenish the wood.
You can try sanding, but that doesn't always work. In some cases I have seen them sand the floors and then stain it all dark to match.
Ok, staining is an option
Hi Sylvia. It's Cindy again. The measurements on the salt and olive oil are equal parts of each. Sorry, I didn't include the measurements in my original answer. I would start with a half cup of each. You can always make more if you need it. Good luck.
