Obviously unplugged and cool to the touch, you can use various cleaners such as vinegar windex or even a soft scrub to take off the junk on the surface. Do not submerge it, but rather use a clean damp rag to wipe off soap/cleaning materials.

    What's on your iron?

    Hi Lis,

There are a lot of methods people use to clean an iron; baking soda, acetone, toothpaste, vinegar, dish soap, salt and more. One of my tips is that once you get it clean, put it on a low heat and run it over waxed paper. I used to do that all the time to keep my iron in good shape. Wishing you the best.

Hi Lis. Make a paste of one tablespoon water and two tablespoons of Baking Soda. Use a spatula and spread the paste on the iron's plate. Be sure to coat the areas that have mineral deposits. Wait a minute or so and then wipe off the paste with a damp cloth. Then dip a Q Tip in distilled water and insert it into the iron's steam vents. OR A magic Eraser will clean it too.
