How is your bulkhead fashioned? Ours is a slant over an opening in the ground, with steps leading down to the cellar door. My neighbor behind us has a roofed structure with an upright wooden door which leads to steps going down. We have steel as it is much sturdier for a door on a slant. Her's is all wood which is fine for an upright structure. It really depends on what your opening is.
