Use Google and type in degreasers and you will get a load of suggestions. Why sweat anything else?

If the paint is matte or flat finish, it’s not going to come off fully. It has soaked in.

I would use clear Dawn-like detergent and hot water on a clean sponge.

If you’re going to have to re-paint, then use a gloss latex enamel.

I would buy a piece of glass and use mirror clips & put up a big “splash guard”.

I've done my backsplash with thick tempered glass and have never regretted it. I have a reasonably small back splash so I can remove the glass to take it outside and scrape all the yuk grease with a razor scraper tool before degreasing it... keeping the chemicals out of my septic tank. Best of all, you can remove it to change the look of your backsplash any time you're in the mood for a change. I have used wallpaper often, I used gift wrapping paper I really liked once, shower curtains have been glued up with home made starch glue that is water soluble, ANYTHING goes and can be protected easily.
