How do you clean an old wooden door?
I have a front door to my apartment that I think is over a 100 yrs old. It needs to be freshened up. Do you have any suggestions?
Sanding them down and refinishing them with a stain and sealer for exterior use would give you the longest lasting result. Taking them down to work on would be your best bet. Or you can scrub them down with cleaning products and seal the wood with wax.
That’s more than cleaning, if the existing surface has been harmed by the UV exposure.
After cleaning them with Murphy’s oil soap, I would evaluate if they need re-staining or if they can be clear coated with Marine varnish or what needs to be done.
