How do I clean my gas stove that was contaminated by mice?
Mice have contaminated my two year old stove, insulation and whatever else is inside. The repairman said $400 just to take it apart, he would throw it away, but he didn’t pay $700 for it.

Hi Deb,
Mice feces is toxic and it will be inside the gas stove. Some say that you can turn your oven on to 500 degrees for 30 mins and that will kill the bacteria, but it won't clean up the mess. You'll have to do that, probably by taking it apart and replacing anything inside. That $400 to take it apart should be used toward fixing it. If not, I'd highly recommend that you call a few other companies to see what they can offer you. See what other companies think, but don't tell them about this repair guy. Maybe it can be salvaged with a thorough cleaning and replacing parts, but IMHO a professional is more qualified to answer that question. Get their quotes in writing before you decide. Wishing you the best.
