Use Fray Check.

Hot gluing around the edge on bottom side is a quick fix.you can put it just inside where you want to cut. Depending on what you want to use it for duct tape first then cut down the middle of the duct tape . Use the tape on the bottom side so it doesn't show.. Or just make fringe lol. You can sew it by machine on the inside of cutting line before cutting but it requires a very fine stitch length.
Michaels sells a spray glue you could spray the edge after you cut it
I use a tacky spray adhesive. It can be found at Hobby Lobby or Joann's fabric.
Thank you ladies !
IMO the Fray Check than Naomie suggested is superior to a spray because you can control exactly where it goes, and where it does not go. It also washes off your fingers easily with regular hand soap.
Unless you want to make a hem with the burlap, do not use a glue, as it will cause the burlap edge to stick to everything else.
Fray Check is not a glue; it is a sealant.
