If you are hearing too much sound at age 65, you are doing better than a lot of folks who can't hear enough!
Where is it too noisy? What part of the home? What type of noise is it? Do you know where it is coming from?
Please tell us a little more about your situation so that we can try to offer you suggestions that might work.
Carpets, drapes . . . What exactly is the issue? 65 is just a number. My 77 year old girlfriend still fixes her own roof. Much to the chagrin of her adult children.
Have you considered larger than usual wall art?
Some people have mounted beautiful shower curtains on a frame and hung them up.
If the problem is noise coming in from outside you can put up a trellis or two and plant some type of ivy to climb up it. Most ivy grow fast so the trellises will be quickly covered. Trellises are cheap as are ivy plants.
