Hi Jacquelyn. If you click on the little blue house at the top of this page, left-hand corner, old Home Talk projects will come up. If you can;t find the post that you want, use the search bar. Also, check out "Explore Projects" for even more. I'm sure you will be able to find the dresser makeover you mentioned.
I recently restained my ugly oak bathroom vanity and the results were fabulous. It looks like a brand new vanity. I started by washing the doors and drawers with soap and water. Then after they dried I sanded down the frame, doors and drawers with an electric sander. I wiped all the dust off from sanding and took an old sock and began staining the piece. I applied the stain then wiped it off and let it dry 24 hrs. I sanded again and wiped the dust off and applied a 2nd coat of stain. I let that dry 24 hrs and did a third and final sanding and wiping the dust off and one last staining. I let it dry 24 hrs and applied a gloss varnish to protect and finish it off. Amazing results. I used a gorgeous red mahogany stain. Its timeless and classic now.
