How do I make DIY chalk paint?
I am addicted to this forum and get so many idea from all of the posts from members, however I can’t seem to find the post that tells how to make your own chalk paint at home. If you’re doing a fairly large project, it can become very costly to purchase it online and the colors are limited. Please help???

Sarah....Latex paint...1 cup...Plaster of Paris...1/3 cup...enough water to be a little thinner than mayo. Mix PP with water first then add paint. Use a wide mouth jar with lid. Hope this works for you. You can purchase Calcium Carbonate also.

Make Your Own Chalk Paint Recipe
Rustoleum Chalked Paint is a less expensive alternative to some of the other commercially made brands. I have used it often even though my favorite chalk paint is Annie Sloan--expensive but I love it! I treat myself once in a while! The Rustoleum brand works very well however the Linen white requires a few more thin coats to cover. If you do mix a batch of chalk paint make sure you mix enough the first time for a big project otherwise if you have to do two batches you may be a bit off in the color. I like the plaster of paris recipe the best. Just make sure you stir it until it's smooth and then stir it every once in a while as you are using it especially if you have to let it sit overnight! Make sure you finish your chalk painted project with a wax finish or a poly finish. Water based poly doesn't yellow over time so consider using that kind of poly.
I like to make homemade chalk paint with calcium carbonate powder. I recently tried BB frosch paint powder and was blown away though! I will be using BB Frosch more!
