Get rid of mold behind shower grout
If it is behind your grout, it is probably behind your tile. If a proper moisture barrier was not used, it will happen. The heavy moisture that has happened this year has not helped. Consult a professional, even if you are going to do it yourself. You can also look for a video on uTube. I imagine the tile will need to come down and the mold removed and a proper moisture barrier put in place. We ran a dehumidifier everyday this summer, and emptied 10 plus gallons a day AND we have an air conditioner.
Yes, mold behind the grout is like cancer. It requires major remediation.
Add bleach to the grout with a small brush and leave to for about 30 minutes then scrub it off.
Hi Myra - There are several ways to get rid of mold, but most importantly, you need to address the root cause to keep it from returning. This article focuses on the bathroom, but is an overall great article that covers methods of how to remove mold, if bleach is safe to use, and how to prevent it from coming back. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly
