Hi Rosemary,
What insects are you trying to repel? Inside/outside? From your body or from your property? Please give more information so you can be helped.
We have stink bugs getting into my son’s bedroom on the second floor and numerous ladybugs hovering around the eaves in the front of the house.
Hi Rosemary - This is the most effective all-natural mosquito and bug spray DIY that we use. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly

Citronella is a plant. Take the leaves, dry them and make a strong tea with them. Let the tea cool, strain out the leaves and set aside. Pour the liquid into a spray bottle. Scatter the leaves around your garden or in your plants. Spray the citronella spray where ever needed. It is child and pet safe. You can grow citronella in pots... also marigolds. Mosquitoes like to bite people who eat sweet food, like bananas, and eat a lot of meat. When I was a vegetarian, they pretty much left me alone. Another suggestion is to install a bat house in your yard. Bats eat their own weight in mosquitoes every day--that's hundreds and thousands every day! When I installed a bat house on my chimney and one on my shed, I didn't see another mosquito on our farm.
Try this one. It's for mosquitoes but it should word for other bugs too: https://www.craftylittlegnome.com/diy-mosquito-repellent/
